We are currently in the process of rebuilding a 1962 Galaxie 500 4-door sedan. I have had this car since 1985, it had been in my step-mother's family for many years and had gone through a few many teenagers. A tune-up, belts and fluid flush and she was ready to roll.
In 1988 I blew the original 352 engine while driving slightly above the speed limit, ahead of a slower vehicle traveling in the same direction with the intention of passing me in a ballistic fashion. OK! I was racing!
After that, the old Ford was parked in the driveway. Within a few months we had a rebuilt 390 bored about .30 over delivered. I replaced all the tranny cooler lines, engine and brakes. Stuck an Edelbrock 2105 intake manifold and a Holley 720cfm 4-barrel on her with some headers. She ran fine for a year or two until some smoke started coming from the bottom. Seems the tranny seals were going. Fate and time caught up with me and I moved up north, parking her, as I could not afford the time or money to get her running again and I did not want to damage her any more.
So check back here, as one of these days I'll post up some project info on her
