The Shellfish Cholesterol Conspiracy!
Okay, I'm taking names this time! So my cholesterol was a little
high. It happens. Dietary adjustment - and the first thing to
go, SHELLFISH. Those of you who know me, know that I love seafood.
Hey, I'm a Southern California native. I love seafood, even if we
have to have it flow in now because we've poisoned our coastal waters
(again, I digress)
Then I find out that this is not true. It's an urban myth!
Ya, so shrimp and crayfish are higher in cholesterol than most types of
fish, but they are lower in saturated and total fats than most
meats and poultry.
Here are a bunch of links to dispel the shellfish conspiracy.

All that aside, you still have to be careful about how
much you eat. Plus, there are also concerns about over-fishing /
harvesting of our oceans. Pay particular attention to the
Monterey Bay Seafood Watch list. It's tough, but you can have
your cake and eat it too.
Cheers, Ted
