February 20th 1999

Last weekend we took our studio pictures at Promise Wedding Group in Alhambra.  This weekend we will host the Engagement Dinner (slash Kim's mom's 83rd birthday party) at ABC Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown, Los Angeles.

Things have not slowed down a bit for us.  We haven't even decided on the location for the Rehearsal Dinner.  I can tell you one thing for sure, it's not going to be Chinese food!  Anyway, we're on our way out the door to pick up about a dozen rolls of film from Costco, so you should see some updates to the picture gallery soon.

Check out our on-line Bridal Registry with the Wedding Channel.   For all the non-techno guests, we are also registered with Robinson's-May.  If shopping isn't your thing, gift certificates (Home Depot especially) & red envelopes would greatly help us to furnish that dream house we're working on.

February 15, 1999:

Well, we're coming down to the wire.   The girls are in the back room getting their final fittings as I type.  The invitations were picked up yesterday and we have the production line running full time folding and stuffing.  Besides the wedding preparations, the house is filled with the sounds and scents of Chinese New Year.  Tonight, which is Valentine's Day for American's, is also our family's celebration of the New Year, 4967.  New Years' Day is actually on Tuesday the 16th, which marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit.  Click here for our special page for you.

As far as wedding planning goes, all we have to do now is buy the dowery stuff, choose the music, meet with the church coordinator and few hundred other little things.  We've also been asked by some site visitiors for info on traditional American weddings. So, we're adding a page on that too.

We've added the following this week:

American Wedding Traditions

Specifics to our Wedding

Chinese New Year's Greeting

Added the Banquet Menu

Nov. 7, '98   Due to conflicting schedules at the church, we've had to change our wedding day to April 17th, 1999.   So, for sure now, we will see you on 4/17/99 at the First Congregational Church in L.A. off of Commonwealth and 6th, near the Superior Court building. (see our Guest page for more info).  Ocean Restaurant in L.A.Chinatown changed their story and were quite unreasonable to deal with.  It seems that they figured that we would not go to another restaurant.  We walked out on them after they insisted that we spend a specific dollar amount, plus tax & tip - regardless of our menu choices.  Believe me when I tell you nobody operates this way and I was stunned by their stupidity.   Heck, I think if I sat there listening to Sam all full of himself and their new banquet rules, that I would not have been able to forgive myself - much less eat their food.  Oh well, keep an eye out for the free web page I'm going to upload to show my appreciation of their curt attitude.  So we trucked on over to Ocean Star Seafood in Monterey Park where we were met by a very professional gentleman, Mr. Peter Lee.  The restaurant is located in the Mar Center - Mar being Kim's maiden name, it had to be charma.  Even though they were in the midst of preparing for a 50+ table banquet, Peter took the time to sit down and make us feel very comfortable.  His establishment is much more conducive to the banquet that we have in mind.   Unfortunately, someone else had a "verbal" commitment for the same day we requested.  I was impressed that Peter would actually honor his previous verbal agreement, since we were offering him a deposit right then and there (and in this culture, cash talks).  It took us a week to get him to blow the other guy off, since he was not able to contact him and kept trying.

The other big update we have is that we've decided on our wedding bands.  With the help of Andy and Muy of Chor's (pronounced Cho's) Jewelry in Chinatown, we have now begun to realize the design that we've been working on.  The rings will be platinum, each with a round cut diamond in a pressure mount.  A channel will be cut in center of the ring, where we will inlay with red coral.  We look forward to posting the images of the rings as we go.  Click here to get an  idea of the initial design.  If you want to see some original work or are looking for some quality jewelry for you or that someone special, give Andy a call.   These guys are good!

Nov. 14, '98:

Met with Peter at Ocean Star in Monterey Park.  Paid the deposit - the reception is now officially booked.

Nov. 21, '98:

Met with Andy at the Chor's Jewelry.  I've exhausted my avenues for quality Red Coral, so Kim and I have decided to make the rings with a 24k gold inlay.  The rings should be available to us by next Wednesday.  We'll look forward to uploading some pictures after we get them.
